An Indian fishermen was killed by Pakistan marines near Dwarka, off the Gujarat coast. The boat with Indian fishermen was fired upon in international waters today. Early reports say that the name of the fisherman killed is Iqbal and he is from Porbander. It is believed that Pak Marines had targetted two fishing boats. Two Indian coastguard ships -- Vijit and Meeraben -- are en route for investigations.

In June, about 113 Indian fishermen were released from the Landi Kotal prison near Peshawar in North-Western Pakistan. The fishermen had allegedly strayed into Pakistani waters.

In March, at least 45 Indian fishermen were arrested by Pakistani authorities for allegedly violating territorial waters in the Arabian Sea. Pakistan Maritime Security Agency arrested the fishermen yesterday near the Sir Creek area in the Arabian Sea close to Karachi's coastal area and seized their boats.
