BJP chickens out, reduces Mumbai's meat ban to 2 days

Facing heat over the eight-day meat ban in Mumbai, especially from its ally the Shiv Sena, the BJP  called for an end to the controversy and asked the BMC to reduce the duration of the ban to two days. In consideration of the Jain fasting period, Paryushan, the BMC had announced a prohibition on the slaughter of animals and sale of meat. However, the Sena took on the government vociferously and said that they would ensure that such a ban would not be enforced at all.
