Just in: Netaji files to be made public next week, says West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee. The 64 digitised files, from 1937 to 1947, on Subhas Chandra Bose will be made public next Friday.

The decision comes in the wake of Netaji's grandnephew Chandra Kumar Bose's repeated pleas to the West Bengal government, which said that 23 members of Netaji's family had written six times to Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee requesting her to declassify the files that were with the state government, but got no response.

A large section of the Bose family, researchers and historians have been seeking declassification of over 100 secret files said to be with various government departments including the prime minister's office (PMO).

The family and the researchers are also making efforts to create a nationwide movement seeking declassification of the documents.
