South Korea used pop songs in its propaganda broadcasts that forcedNorth Korea to the negotiating table as cross-border tensions threatened to escalate into open warfare in late August.

Songs by groups such as Girls' Generation '" and lyrics such as "Dance, dance, dance till we run this town, Oppa Oppa I'll be, I'll be down, down, down" '" were sufficient to convince Pyongyang that it was going to lose the war of words, Yonhap news reported.
