Of delicate diplomacy
October 23, 2015  14:23
Andhra Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has invited Maharashtra Governor Vidyasagar Rao and Tamil Nadu Governor K Rosaiah to the foundation ceremony of Amaravati, the futuristic capital of Andhra Pradesh.

While Rosiah made an appearance, Rao did not. While Rao had prior engagements, more importantly, when the prime minister attends, Rao has to get a go-ahead from the PMO.

Rosaiah, on the other hand, does not need to attend since he is the senior- most Congress leader after President Pranab Mukherjee and does not need Sonia Gandhi's permission. In any case, there is no vestige of the Congress in Andhra Pradesh after it was completely wiped out in the 2014 Lok Sabha polls.
