"Keep both chief ministers -- Chandrababu Naidu and Chandrasekhar Rao -- cheerful and have regular joint meetings."

This is what Prime Minister Narendra Modi told Andhra Pradesh Governor ESL Narasimhan, when he was in the state to lay the foundation stone of Amaravati, the futuristic capital of Andhra Pradesh, at a grand ceremony on Thursday.

The buzz in both chief ministerial camps was that everyone wanted to know why Modi wanted AP governor ESL Narasimhan to accompany him throughout the day during his visits to Vijayawada, Amaravati and Tirumala.

What we understand is that the the PM wanted to keep the CMs of both the states cheerful and get the latest inputs on Telangana and the newly bifurcated state of Andhra Pradesh.

Both chief  ministers are rather puzzled about Narasimhan's precise role in the PM's day-long visit to the state, our sources tell us.
