Is the end of Islamic State nearing in Syria? If media reports are to go by, Russia is moving swiftly towards achieving that objective in the war-torn country.

As per a report in the Daily Express, Russia, which began air strikes against the ISIS earlier this month, has managed to cut-off arms supplies to the terror group and the caliphate may be on the verge of defeat.

The report quoted a defence official as saying that Russian military jets have conducted more than 40 sorties and carried out as many attacks against the ISIS since Wednesday.

ISIS strongholds in Aleppo, Hama, Idlib, Latakia and Deir ez-Zur were targeted, the official added.

ISIS, at present, controls vast swathes of Syria and Iraq.
