1 dead after shooting near campus of Texas Southern University

One person has died following a shooting near the campus of Texas Southern University, police confirm.

The shooting happened at the Courtyard Apartments on Blodgett at Canfield around 11:30 a.m.

One person was taken to the hospital in critical condition, and the other person was listed in stable condition.

Police say there was another shooting at the same complex Thursday night. That shooter remains on the loose and it is not known if the incidents are related.
