The CBI has told the Mumbai court that financial transactions were the motive behind Sheena Bora's murder and has asked the court for a remand extension of 10 days.

Peter Mukerjea was produced before the court in connection with the Sheena Bora murder case. Peter was arrested on November 20 on charges of murder, abduction and criminal conspiracy and has been in CBI custody since.

According to the sources, a Mumbai top cop will be a witness in the case. Indrani and Peter approached an IPS officer seeking help to trace a missing relative only to say a few days later that the missing relative has been traced. The move, sources added, was largely done to create an alibi.

The CBI on Sunday questioned Rahul Mukerjea, who has handed over several documents allegedly used by Sheena Bora to "blackmail" her mother Indrani Mukerjea.

Rahul is considered an "important link" in the sensational Sheena Bora murder case by the agency which also continued the grilling of his father Peter Mukerjea, an accused in the case who was arrested on November 19.
