1 militant gunned down in fierce gunbattle with security troops in J-K

One militant has been gunned down during a flush out operation by security troops in Kashmir's Handwara area. The encounter, which began last evening, resumed in the morning.

"Acting upon specific information about the presence of some militants, the joint team of army's 21 Rashtriya Rifles, 9 PARA cordoned off the whole Bhawan village in Rajwar, Handwara," a senior police said. As the searches begin militants hiding in the area opened fire upon them resulting in heavy fire exchange between forces and militants.
