Renowned and respected actor Kamal Haasan a recipient of four National Awards (three for acting, one for producing), a Padmashri and a Padma Bhushan says he will not return the awards. Haasan says there are sensible politicians in every party and returning awards is a futile exercise. "There are other ways to get attention. Intolerance must not divide the nation," the superstar said.

This comes a day after Shah Rukh Khan spoke about intolerance yesterday. At a press conference in Mumbai, when asked whether he would return an award -- on the lines of what writers and filmmakers have been doing as a form of protest -- he said on a light note, "No one can force me to do anything I don't want to, but let me get a National Award, and then I will return it." He added that he respected the writers for what they are doing.
