Navy chief Admiral RK Dhowan raised hopes of armed forces veterans on the 'one rank one pension' issue.

Dhowan said that the government and the defence minister were fully aware of the matter, but the final decision rested with the government. "One has to be patient,"  one has to be patient, the admiral said.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has made repeated assurances at many places, and while addressing the troops at the highest battlefield of the world, Siachen, on the eve of Diwali last year, he stated that the order of implementation of OROP had been issued.

Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar also repeatedly assured veterans that the NDA government would  implement OROP before the government completes a year in office.

Now, that a year in office is over, ex-servicemen had expected the PM to announce the implementation of OROP on Monday during his rally in Mathura.

But Modi has remained mum.
