Priyanka Gandhi Vadra who was in her mother, Congress president Sonia Gandhi's constituency in Rae Bareli today, hit out at HRD minister Smriti Irani. Speaking to villagers in Sareni in Rae Bareli, Priyanka said, "HRD Minister Smriti Irani is answerable as to why there is still no IIT in Amethi."


The Congress has alleged that the Narendra Modi government is now planning to shift the IIIT campus and Science and Technology Discovery Park out of Rahul Gandhi's Lok Sabha constituency.


Established in 2005 as an extension campus of the Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT)-Allahabad, the Amethi campus was named as Rajiv Gandhi IIIT while the Discovery Park, is considered as Rahul Gandhi's pet project.
