In a bid to showcase the dangers the ISIS represents, Iran launched an anti-Isis cartoon competition, inviting submissions from around the world.

The cartoonists were told to focus and mock the militant group and the atrocities it has committed. The winner be announced on May 31.

At least 280 works had been selected from 800 submissions, and entries came from over 40 countries. Foreign cartoonists attending the contest were travelling under pseudonyms due to security concerns.

The Tehran government had recently held a competition on the theme of Holocaust denial following the depiction of the Prophet Mohamed in the French magazine Charlie Hebdo earlier this year.
