Swedish newspaper Dagens Nyheter has claimed that India had asked it to delete the reference made by President Pranab Mukherjee to the Bofors scam in an interview to it, pointing out that the controversy generated by the comment could affect the state visit later this week.


Mukherjee who leaves for Sweden on May 31, 2015, in an interview to Peter Wolodarski, editor-in-chief of Dagens Nyheter had said that no Indian court has yet given its verdict on the Bofors issues and therefore, it could not be called a scandal.


Following the controversy that has erupted over the President's remarks, India's Ambassador to Sweden and Latvia Banashri Bose Harrison has written a letter to the newspaper to register New Delhi's "disappointment' over the issue. Read more
