Three people were killed and 15 injured in an explosion that targeted the motorcade of the son of Pakistan President Mamnoon Hussain in the restive province of Balochistan, officials said on Monday.

Explosives planted in a motorcycle parked near a hotel were detonated by remote control as the motorcade was passing through the industrial city of Hub on Sunday.

The injured, including four policemen, were taken to a nearby hospital.

"The convoys of the President's son Salman Mamnoon and Lasbela district police officer Bashir Brohi were passing by the area when a huge explosion occurred,' assistant sub-inspector of police Jam Mandokhel told the media.

Four policemen who were part of Salman Mamnoon's security detail were injured. Police officials said the convoy of the President's son was the target of the attack. Salman Mamnoon, who escaped unhurt, frequently visits a farm in Hub, officials said. No group claimed responsibility for the attack. Balochistan has witnessed numerous attacks by separatist groups over the years.
