Naxals take 400 villagers hostage ahead of PM's Dantewada visit

400 people from Marenga and adjoining villages in Chhattisgarh's Sukma district have been taken hostage by Naxals ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to the state. 

The villagers were on their way to participate in the PM's rally.

However, police officials have denied any hostage crisis in the area. 

"There is no hostage like situation. Naxals are only meeting the villagers," says Superintendent of police Sukma D Sharavan.

This 'meeting has been going on since last night. No demands have been made from the Naxals yet.
