Mail Today reports: The Intelligence Bureau has alerted the home ministry about a spurt in the production of Punjabi films which could exploit Sikh sentiments.

In a report to the home ministry, the Intelligence Bureau has said that these films were based on issues like Operation Blue Star, which was carried out by the Indian Army inside the Golden Temple to flush out Sikh militants.

There is also a film on the 1984 anti-Sikh riots, during which more than 3300 Sikhs were killed.

Some films also feature the alleged police atrocities during the height of militancy in Punjab.

These movies also portray erstwhile militants as saviours of the Sikh community.
