A legislator hits his head against a table. Another gets his arm nearly yanked off. A few are punched. Ten more jostle and push to leave the assembly.

That's the scene at the Jammu and Kashmir assembly this morning.

Lawmakers of the Congress and the National Conference were protesting against the state government when members started pushing each other violently.

Opposition parties were accusing the government of making false promises and said there was a conflict between ruling coalition partners the PDP and the BJP.

Former chief minister Omar Abdullah of the National Conference said, "They (the government) has taken three months to come up with a Common Minimum Programme. What we are being told in the name of a CMP is false."
