Centre says no to West Bengal Government's request for a CBI probe into the nun gang-rape case. The local bar association in Ranaghat on Thursday decided against defending the accused in the alleged robbery and rape of nun at Ranaghat in Nadia district.

"We have decided not to plead for the accused of convent robbery and rape case as it is a heinous crime," Secretary of Ranaghat Bar Association Milan Sarkar said. Salim Seikh whom CID had arrested in Mumbai on Thursday was produced before the local court.

Gopal Sarkar, the second suspect arrested in the gangrape of a 71-year-old nun at a convent in Ranaghat two weeks ago, was produced before a local court and remanded to 14-day CID custody today.
