Slumdog novelist, diplomat Vikas Swarup is new MEA spokesperson

Celebrated novelist Vikas Swarup, author of bestseller debut novel "Q&A' (on which Slumdog Millionaire was based) and career diplomat, has been appointed as the official spokesperson of the Ministry of External Affairs. He will take over on 18 April.

Swarup replaces Syed Akbaruddin.

Swarup, an IFS, has served in Turkey, the United States, Ethiopia, the United Kingdom, South Africa and Japan.
