What to do if a plane goes down in a mountaneous area: Expert advice

Alex Macheras, aviation safety expert, tells Sky News, about what can be done to bring down a plane safely if something goes wrong over a mountainous area.

"One would hope there would be an airport nearby," he told Sky News.

"This is near ski resorts and although there may be smaller runways that wouldn't be the easiest for the aircraft to land at, the pilots would make their best effort to bring the aircraft down safely if they had no choice in terms of other safe airports they could divert to.

"But it all depends on the extent of the emergency onboard."
