LIVE! Plane took 8 minutes to descend from 38,000 feet, then crashed

According to Germanwings officials, flight 4U 9525 took eight minutes to descend from 38,000 feet. Contact between the plane and French air traffic controllers broke off at 10:53 (local time) at an altitude of approximately 6,000 feet.

According to a Germanwings official, 67 Germans are believed to have been on board.

The plane then crashed.
