Pakistan High Commissioner Abdul Basit has said in the aftermath of his meeting with the home ministry that Zaki-ur-Rehman Lakhvi may have been granted bail, but the trial continues.

Basit was summoned by Secretary (East) Anil Wadhwa, who is officiating as Foreign Secretary since S Jaishankar is in Sri Lanka with the PM.

A court on Friday ordered the release Lakhvi, the man accused of plotting the 26/11 Mumbai attacks.

India said it is Pakistan's responsibility to take all legal measures to ensure that he doesn't come out of jail.

India said it was "extremely upset" over the verdict of a court and has lodged a strong protest with the Pakistan government.
