PM Narendra Modi had lunch at the MPs canteen in Parliament. After being shut for couple of years, the old kitchen at the Parliament House Complex is to be renewed soon with pipe natural gas lines set to be installed so that food can be prepared and served hot and fresh for the MPs and visitors. Right now, the food served at all canteens inside the complex is being cooked at the Parliament House Annexe and brought from there to be served.

Home Minister Rajnath Singh today distanced his government from the remarks of Jammu and Kashmir ally Mufti Mohammad Sayeed that "people from across the border" - seen as a reference to Pakistan - had allowed peaceful polls in the state.

Opposition members staged a walkout thereafter demanding a statement from the PM condemning Mufti's statement.
