Obama vows end to 'unacceptable practices' after spy row

US President Barack Obama spoke with his French counterpart Francois Hollande on Wednesday after reports that his government spied on France's leaders, giving fresh assurances that the practice had ended, Paris said.

"President Obama reiterated without ambiguity his firm commitment... to stop these practices that took place in the past and which were unacceptable between allies," the presidency said in a statement.
