UNHRC biased, obsessed with Israel: Foreign Ministry

Israel has slammed a UNHRC report critical of its 51-day military offensive in Gaza last year that killed more than 2,000 Palestinians, calling it "politically motivated and morally flawed" while dubbing the global rights watchdog as "a notoriously biased institution."

Noting that the report acknowledges that its authors lacked "much of relevant information", the Israeli foreign ministry in its response said: "The entire process that led to the production of this report was politically motivated and morally flawed from the outset."

"It is regrettable that the report fails to recognise the profound difference between Israel's moral behaviour during Operation Protective Edge and the terror organisations it confronted", a statement released by the ministry said.

The UNHRC report accused Israel of continuing its policy of airstrikes despite the resulting death in Gaza and is said to suggest that Hamas had made efforts to warn Israeli civilians of impending rocket attacks, much to the chagrin of the people and the government here.

The report, however, said Hamas was responsible for war crimes in the public executions of individuals labelled as Israeli "collaborators."
