'Peepli Live' co-director arrested for allegedly raping American woman

Filmmaker Mahmood Farooqui has been arrested by the Delhi police for allegedly raping a 35-year-old American woman.

Farooqui, best known for co-directing the 2010 film Peepli Live, has been sent to judicial custody for six days. The woman, a 35-year-old American student, had come to India for some research in March.

She had lodged a complaint with the Delhi police on Friday following which Farooqui was called in for questioning and arrested yesterday.
