Sharad Pawar elected Mumbai Cricket Association president

Nationalist Congress Party chief Sharad Pawar was elected president of the Mumbai Cricket Association's biennial elections in Mumbai on Wednesday.

Contesting on behalf of the BJP-backed Pawar-Bal Mahaddalkar group, he beat the Shiv Sena-backed 'Cricket First' group's candidate Vijay Patil by 172-145 votes.

BJPs Mumbai chief, Ashish Shelar, and former India batsman Deli Vengsarkar,  of the Pawar group, were elected vice-presidents.
