Already mired in controversy, Greenpeace India on  tendered an unconditional apology for the way it handled an alleged sexual harassment case of one of its ex-employees and said it is investigating the matter.

The statement comes after one of its ex-employees wrote an article which was published on a web forum last week alleging sexual harassment and also rape by colleagues at Greenpeace India.

"Greenpeace India reiterates its unconditional apology for the way it responded to the sexual harassment of one of our colleagues. We did not do justice to her complaint (or others) and we hope to right these failings in future.

"We are investigating what happened and will ensure these wrongs are made right...Greenpeace International will also be working closely with the Board and leadership of Greenpeace India in taking concrete measures to ensure that the organisation is able to deal with these cases effectively, moving forward," it said in a statement.
