PM Narendra Modi receives Liberation Award of War Honor on behalf of former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee at the Bangabhaban.

"It is a matter of great fortune for all Indians that a great leader like Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee is being feted with the Liberation Award. When Bangladesh was fighting for its independence millions of Indians were fighting alongside them to give form to their dreams. I thank Bangladesh for recognising the work and fortitude of Atal Bihari Vajpayee," said Modi.

The prime minister added that were he in better health Vajpayee would have received the award himself.
