Yakub hanging harsh, says ex-foreign secretary

The diplomat who coordinated the return of Yakub Memon's family from the United Arab Emirates in 1994 has dubbed the hanging of the Bombay blasts convict as "harsh".

"There were, I think, extenuating circumstances in this case that should have been taken into account," Krishnan Srinivasan, former foreign secretary and a columnist for The Telegraph, said. Read more
