India won't be 1st to strike, but will strike back if hit: Rajnath

Home Minister Rajnath Singh on the Gurdaspur terror attack: We want peace with Pakistan, but not at the cost of national honour. We will not be the first to strike, but if we are hit, we will give a befitting reply. I can't understand why time and again cross border terror incidents are taking place when we want good relations with our neighbour.


A massive operation in underway in Punjab's Gurdaspur district to flush out terrorists who went on a rampage attacking a bus and a police station complex, leaving six persons, including two police officials, dead and several injured.


Among those killed was Superintendent of Police (Detective) Baljit Singh, Inspector General Gaurav Yadav informed. An injured security personnel said that one of the terrorists involved in the attack was a woman.


The terrorists struck a moving bus at Dinanagar area at 5am, spraying bullets at passengers, injuring four. The assailants then targeted a health centre followed by a building where the families of police personnel reside and hurled grenades before entering the police station.


Army columns were mobilised as the 'fidayeen' terrorists were holed up in Dinanagar police station complex.
