Explosives found near track disrupt Delhi-bound trains

Explosives were found lying close to railway tracks near Shahbad railway station in Haryana's Kurukshetra district today, following which rail traffic was briefly suspended on the route.


Police said that some passersby noticed the explosives in Dolu Majra village after which the police was alerted. Police and Army personnel reached the spot and took the explosives into their possession.


Rail traffic on the route had to be temporarily suspended and a thorough search of the area was conducted, they said. Later, the rail traffic on the route resumed.


Twelve trains were stopped on the route for a while as a precautionary measure, police said. Among the trains which were briefly halted included Shan-ePunjab, Delhi- Amritsar express and Kalka-Delhi Shatabdi.
