Can Anand Mahindra, chairman and MD of the Mahindra Group make a difference to this sportsperson's life and India's fortunes?

Inderjeet Singh qualified for the Rio de Janeiro Olympics and then won five gold medals in international meets within a span of 36 days.

But he remains unemployed and would not have been able to compete or train for meets but for a few kind souls.

I had to spend something like Rs. 50,000 from my pocket to travel to Chennai along with my coach, for the National inter-State meet, and it is frustrating that I have to continue to struggle despite all these medals I have won for my country, Inderjeet told The Hindu over telephone from his home in Haryana.

Reading the report, Anand Mahindra tweeted: @anandmahindra If anyone knows him, please connect me to him.

Here's hoping it all works out for Mr Singh.
