Hollywood icon Omar Sharif dies at 83

Omar Sharif, the legendary Egyptian actor who became an international star in 'Lawrence of Arabia,' has died at age 83. The star, popular for his acting in Dr Zhivago, suffered from Alzheimer's disease, his son revealed in May.

His agent Steve Kenis said: "He suffered a heart attack this afternoon in a hospital in Cairo."

Sharif was born in Alexandria, Egypt and became a Hollywood icon in the 1960s with starring roles in Lawrence of Arabia opposite Peter O'Toole and later opposite Barrbra Streisand in Funny Girl.
