33 days later, Dornier aircraft found, but crew still missing

The missing Dornier aircraft belong to the Indian coast Guard has been found. The aircraft with three personnel on board went missing last month following which one of the largest ever sea search efforts were mounted to locate it.


Parts of the wreckage of the aircraft located at a 950m depth in the Bay of Bengal, along with the flight data recorder have been recovered. Recovery operations are still underway.


This brings to an end the 33-day search for the crew members, who remain missing, likely dead.


Several ships, a submarine and specialized search vessels were on a mission to locate the aircraft.


The Dornier surveillance aircraft went missing off the coast of Tamil Nadu,  but the location of where the flight data recorder was found is still unclear.
