Mukhtar Ahmad reports: A Border Security Force jawan was killed when Pakistan troops violated the ceasefire at north Kashmir's Kupwara district on Sunday, resorting to heavy firing in the Nowgam sector.

Pakistani Rangers also violated the ceasefire in the Arnia sector of the international border in Jammu yesterday evening.

"Pakistan troops resorted to heavy firing in the Nowgam sector Sunday afternoon. A BSF trooper was killed in the firing," said a senior BSF officer.

He said, "Pakistan fire was effectively returned by our troops. The firing exchanges continued for some time."

In the Arnia sector, Pakistan troops resorted to small arms fire which too was returned by the BSF guarding the International Border.
