The gunman who murdered 38 tourists on a Tunisian beach laughed while he took photographs of their bodies, a survivor has said.

Paul Short, who was staying in one of the resort's hotels with his wife Sarah when the attack took place, said he witnessed Seifeddine Rezgui, 23, just metres from him as he tried to help fellow tourists.

"The gunman was just around the corner, not even 50 metres away from us," he told Good Morning Britain.

"The gunman was busy with his gun on his back with a phone out taking photographs of the bodies and laughing." a former Territorial Army member, got his wife to their hotel room when the couple first heard gunshots.

Afterwards, he saw "three or four bodies lying on the steps, just outside my room."
