Just in: Sensex has opened in green after Greece defaulted on its debt, reports NDTV.

The International Monetary Fund said shortly after midnight that Greece had missed a crucial debt payment to the fund. It is the first advanced country to fail to repay a loan of Euro 1.6bn to the IMF and is now formally in arrears.

"We have informed our executive board that Greece is now in arrears and can only receive IMF financing once the arrears are cleared," Gerry Rice, a spokesman for the fund, said.
