Sushma knew Jaishankar would replace Singh

Former foreign secretary Sujatha Singh in a statement accessed by CNN IBN says it was a privilege to have worked in the Foreign Services.

External Affairs minister Sushma Swaraj was in the loop on the appointment as it was she who informed Singh on the change, sources tell CNN IBN. She was asked to choose another posting, but refused a transfer, media reports say.

S Jaishankar replaced Singh as foreign secretary.
