ISRO tweeted this picture this morning with the words, "Tribute to a legend. #rklaxman sent this delightful gift to ISRO a couple of weeks back."

The iconic cartoonist RK Laxman died in Pune on Monday after a prolonged illness at the age of 94.

Speaking about the ISRO sketch, RK Laxman's son, journalist Srinivas Laxman says, that he had requested his father to do a sketch for friends from ISRO after the successful Mangalyaan mission in September 2014.

His father obliged and drew what is his last sketch ever.

Laxman was suffering from urinary tract infection and other ailments and had been on ventilator support and dialysis at Deenanath Mangeshkar hospital in Pune for the last few days.

The Magsaysay award winner had earlier suffered a stroke which had affected the left side of his body hampering his ability to draw.
