The Budget session of Parliament is likely from February 23.

Yesterday, President Pranab Mukherjee in a stern message to Parliamentarians said that a joint session of Parliament was not a "practicable solution" to resolve a legislative impasse.

The President pointed out that he had "seen since 1952 till today only four times laws were passed by [a] joint session".

His observations come in the backdrop of disruptions during the winter session of Parliament and the Modi government's frequent recourse to the ordinance route.
