Breaking his silence for the first time since the Delhi police confirmed that his wife Sunanda Pushkar had indeed been murdered, Congress MP Shashi Tharoor said that he was troubled and pained by the fresh findings.

Tharoor asked the media to be more sensitive in covering cases where a 'loved one' had died.

"I have been the one who has been remaining silent on the issue.  I could not engage myself in a public debate on the issue. I, my personal staff and the personal staff of my wife Sunanda Pushkar will fully cooperate with the police probe.

"The issue has got so much unwanted public attention. There should be a professional investigation without any pre-determined outcome,' said Tharoor.

"My silence is not sinister,' said Tharoor adding that he is not being allowed to mourn in peace after the tragic death of his wife.

Tharoor said he had been undergoing Ayurvedic treatment in a hospital in Thrissur district since the last week of December and chose to be silent since a police enquiry was underway and did not want to compromise the probe by speaking on the issue.
