Derek O'Brien gets a promotion

Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee has appointed Derek O'Brien as leader of the party in the Rajya Sabha from Saturday. This means O'Brien will move to the first row to a seat just in front of the chairman. He is presently seated in the fourth row.

Mukul Roy is being eased out of the chairmanship of the TMC Parliamentary Party from Friday.

In a communication to the Rajya Sabha Chairman, Mamta Banerjee asked for these changes to be brought into effect.
