5 KLO ultras surrender in Guwahati

Five top Kamatapur Liberation Organisation militants, two of them carrying Rs 5 lakh reward, surrendered with arms in lower Assam's Kokrajhar district today, said a police official.

The extremists laid down arms before the Superintendent of Police and deposited one HK-33 rifle with magazine, 100 rounds of ammunition and two satellite phones, IGP L R Bishnoi told PTI.

While the reward-carrying KLO activists were Assistant Organising Secretary Hareswar alias Lal Deka alias Jayanta, and 'Commanding Officer' first battalion Tiranga alias Ananth alias Birkhang, the other three were Assistant Finance Secretary Panchanan alias Bikash, and cadres Brajen Barman alias Rajani and Pradip Barman, the IGP said.

The surrender has weakened the KLO, the IGP added.
