Done deal: PDP-BJP to form govt in J-K, Mufti Mohd to be CM

Mehbooba Mufti and Amit Shah's meeting at his residence has just ended. As the PDP leader and the BJP president pose for photographs outside Shah's house, Mehbooba says peoples' interests have been kept in mind while forming the alliance. "We have reached an understanding. I am happy that hurdles have been removed," she said.

Amit Shah confirmed that the PDP and BJP will form a coalition government in Jammu and Kashmir. "We will form govt with PDP in J-K in a few days," he said. Details of the agenda of the alliance will be out soon, Shah said. Mufti Mohd Sayeed, who will be the chief minister and PM Modi will have a meeting and a formal date of government formation will be declared.

Mehbooba said that the alliance was not for power, but to win people's hearts.

J&K deputy CM is likely to be BJP's Nirmal Singh. Six cabinet ministers each from BJP and PDP, and the swearing in is expected in Jammu on March 1.
