SPG cover for Dr Singh Sonia, Rahul to be extended

One of the issues that will soon come up for consideration before the government is extending SPG cover for former prime minister Manmohan Singh and Congress leaders Sonia, Rahul and Priyanka Gandhi.

As per the provisions of the SPG Act, security cover is to be reviewed every year.

The Cabinet Secretariat is currently processing a note on this for Prime Minister Narendra Modi's okay.

The government is expected to 'automatically approve' the proposal, it is learnt, as it does not want to appear petty by even discussing it.
