Mumbai court charges AIB for criminal conspiracy

Just in: A Mumbai court has ordered a criminal conspiracy case against comedy group AIB and Bollywood personalities for controversial roast.  The court has ordered the police to register a first information report. An FIR has already been filed in Pune, while the Maharashtra government has announced an inquiry.

On Monday, the Bombay high court had directed the government and the I&B ministry to respond to a petition seeking action against organisers.

The show was a comic 'roast', also called insult comedy, a format borrowed from the US. It attracted over four million views in less than four days on YouTube.

The show held in Mumbai saw the participation of Bollywood's Karan Johar, Ranveer Singh, Arjun Kapoor, Deepika Padukone among others.
