Helen Mirren spotted riding the New York subway

Dame Helen Mirren, the Oscar-winning British actress, has been spotted riding the New York subway and was immediately praised for her "perfect posture" and "riding etiquette".

The Queen actress, who according to apparent witnesses had been reading an Ikea catalogue and eating Pringles, was praised on Twitter for the "impeccable" manner in which she carried her bag on her lap.

Mirren, who was on a downtown R train last Thursday, was also praised for not taking up too much space. Read
